Our people make the remarkable possible through an unwavering display of uncommon commitment each day.Reporting to the Production Supervisor, Main Shop Paint, this role is a full-time, hourly position scheduled Monday - Friday with the availability for overtime when necessary. This is a 1st shift schedule (M-F 7am-3:30pm) role; however, at times there will be a need during high business demand and project deadlines to be available to work a 2nd shift schedule (M-F 1pm-9:30pm) temporarily. The Painter II is a strong team player with a positive attitude, is willing to take direction as well as be a self-starter and enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position also possesses basic knowledge of handling hazardous materials and upholds basic cleaning standards of paint guns and work environment.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:Cleans and prepares products to be paintedSelects and mixes specific colors using computer generated formulasApplies automotive or industrial paint to various types of materials (i.e., metal, plastics, foam, etc.)Takes directions well and is also a self-starterImproves processes as necessaryWorks safely in and around a fabrication shop environmentEnjoys working in a creative, problem-solving manufacturing environmentFulfills other production duties assigned as neededKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESAbility to be a strong team player with a positive attitude and a great work ethicAbility to work with little to no directionKnowledge of fabrication shop proceduresEDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE4-7 years professional paint experience in the automotive industry using Matthews, Axalta, etc. requiredExperience working with gravity-fed HVLP paint gunsBondo experience strongly preferredExperience setting up and operating paint equipment and spraying metallics and clear coats requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawlThe employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsThe employee must be able to stand for extended periods of timeSpecific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusEmployee must be able to talk and hearWORK ENVIRONMENTDue to our onsite Fabrication process, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
