Harrison Steel has openings on 2nd shift in its finishing operations for a Heat Treat Furnace Operator. Using large furnaces to heat up steel castings to between 600-1800 degrees Fahrenheit allows us to achieve the correct properties our customers require. This position operates a fork truck and overhead hoist to load and unload large steel castings into our furnaces. Normal duties involve:Safely loading and unloading castings on a trolley hoistQuenching castings into a water tank by hooking, dipping, and unhooking castingsRecording heat treatment activities on a computerAssisting in routine furnace maintenanceQualifications and SkillsEnjoys hands-on workBasic math & reading skills Work well in a team setting and with othersDemonstrates accuracy and thoroughnessWorks safely and observes all safety proceduresValid state issued driver's license requiredWork Environment:The employee regularly work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
