The Staff Accountant will process various journal entries and reconciliations during each month-end close and perform various support functions as required by the accounting department. The Staff accountant needs to be proficient in reviewing and analyzing balance sheet accounts, learn new processes quickly, and adapt to software changes. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Maintain a fixed asset sub-ledger in SAGE software, prepare monthly WIP (CIP) project analyses, and prepare reports for internal and external presentations. 3+ years of experience reconciling general ledger, bank, and site accounts. 3+ years of experience reconciling monthly credit card accounts with bank statements. 3+ years of experience reconciling accounts receivable, inventory, and store cash transactions. Create and post journal entries. Identify improvement opportunities in processes, systems, and reporting through independent investigation and research. Recommend and help implement solution options. Assist in the implementation of approved projects. Create and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets as directed. General Responsibilities Perform specific tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. Promote and support Company image standards. Follow all Company policies and procedures. Compose and process routine correspondence. Input and maintain Excel spreadsheets as directed. Utilize personal computer in Windows system and electronic mail. Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers. Work safely at all times and report all accidents immediately. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of satisfactorily performing each of the above-stated essential duties. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability. General accounting experience is a must. Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Knowledge of general ledger entries and their impact on financial statements. Exposure to multiple accounting software systems. EDUCATION: Associate's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field of study or 2 to 3 years accounting experience. Relevant workplace experience may be a substitute for formal education. LANGUAGE and/or COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate ideas effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Use of a personal computer in the English language is required. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
