Responsibilities

Lead and direct risk management activities and resources.

  • Develop and implement systems, policies and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of risk related information.
  • Collect, evaluate, and maintain data concerning patient injuries, complaints, claims, and other risk-related data.
  • Educate leadership, staff and physicians about risk management programs and their responsibilities to those programs.
  • Advise the organization in the design and implementation of risk reduction policies/protocols and programs within their own departments.
  • Investigate, analyze and report root causes, patterns, and trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events, serious adverse events, and near misses.
  • Assist with identification and implementation of corrective action where appropriate.
  • Report all adverse events to appropriate regulatory and accrediting agencies as required.
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to facilitate the initial investigation and processing of claims against the organization.
  • Manage activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
