JOB SUMMARY: Provides programmatic and logistical support for the training and technical assistance (TTA) programs, providing support to tribes and other organizations in Alaska. Responsible for coordination and delivery of training and technical assistance. Assists with project needs assessments, planning and designing TTA strategies, building program partnerships, program promotion and completing program documentation, data collection, and reporting requirements within the Community Development Division.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides TTA including trainings, workshops, and information sessions to Tribes and other Alaska organizations. Connects TTA recipients to appropriate information, service providers, and specialized trainers, as requested. Occasionally travels to rural communities to provide TTA services, as appropriate. Provides core logistical coordination for the planning, implementation and documentation for programs within Community Development. Participates in the collection and reporting of Outcome Measures and other program performance measures. Assists with evaluation activities. Designs, produces, and coordinates printing of outreach and educational materials. Assists with maintenance of program websites, social media and newsletter publications including researching and compiling funding opportunities, special announcements, calendar events, collecting and posting photographs, forms, etc. Prepares program reports and coordinates other aspects of managing the grants and contracts of the Community Development Division. Submits regular progress reports and responds to requests for information on project activities. Is responsible for purchasing supplies which includes understanding and tracking supply budgets, soliciting bids from vendors, tracking costs, coordinating shipping, and completing supply and inventory reports. Provides technical support in areas such as program evaluation, promotion, information gathering, and information dissemination. Assists with the planning and coordination of program-sponsored training events, including agenda planning, identifying presenters, recruiting participants, arranging for travel and lodging, and preparing training materials. Works with community leaders, program staff and program partners to publicize and promote program activities and accomplishments. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor to support RurAL CAP projects or programs. Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: desktop computer, telephone, copier, PC printer, and fax machine. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 35 pounds of weight by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner. This position will also be performing physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials. Occasionally performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms for handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things. Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health and/or substance abuse problems. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL:
This position may have occasional travel in and outside of Alaska. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. This position will require driving one's own vehicle to and from worksites and destinations.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprints. A.A. or B.A; or equivalent 4 years of experience in project coordination, community development, or a similar professional field. Technical experience in coordinating conference and training events. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing. An attentive listener, articulate speaker and clear and persuasive writer that understands the needs of various audiences. Strong design and layout skills; ability to produce newsletters, brochures and general informational items. Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills. Well-organized and efficient; able to produce measurable results with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize projects and assignments; solve problems independently; and maintain a positive attitude and produce professional results under deadlines. Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance. Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignment with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member. Demonstrated intermediate level of computer skills necessary in order to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs and proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook. Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations. Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements. Must have a valid driver's License and maintain a valid driver's license throughout the course of employment. Must provide a copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles annually. Must have an insured vehicle, present proof of insurance, and maintain proof of insurance throughout the course of employment. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience with understanding and training on federal grant reporting and providing technical assistance to rural tribal communities Knowledge and familiarity with Alaska and the rural Alaskan way of life. Creative self-starter who can work independently and with diverse teams. Hands-on experience coordinating projects.
