WIHD is recruiting for a part-time Skills Trainer. The Skills Trainer will provide training and support for Project SEARCH student interns and host business mentors. Facilitates the training and integration of a student with disabilities in a worksite internship and/or competitive work environment. The instructor works as part of the Project SEARCH team on site at NY Presbyterian Hospital Bronxville, and/or White Plains Hospital.Project SEARCH is a ten-month employment training program that leads to acquisition of competitive skills & continuous improvement, with the outcome being integrated, competitive, entry level employment. This program serves young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the OPWDD system as well as students who are in their last year of high school who can benefit from personalized support in an intensive year of career development and internship experience. The program is a collaborative partnership and it is a community based, employment training program and is business focused.Some Essential Functions of the Trainer Include: Provide individualized support for Project SEARCH interns within their internships at the host business; Identify and implement training strategies, natural supports, accommodations and/or task analysis in coordination with the Project SEARCH instructor and host business staff; Consult with host business department employees on tools and techniques that support intern learning and success; Assist in identification and problem-solving of challenges that interfere with program implementation; Support instructor in classroom set-up, curriculum, delivery, and work site rotation planning and implementation. Education, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma and 3 years of previous experience working with high school aged individuals with disabilities, in a workplace setting in the community preferred; Ability to work collaboratively, as a productive team member with the instructor, families, affiliate school and all agency personnel and diverse community stakeholders; Ability to travel independently for offsite meetings and annual SEARCH conference; Commitment to values of equity and inclusion.
