Exciting and Challenging Work As an Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC), you will play a crucial role in maximizing organ donation. You will be responsible for the evaluation, optimization, and allocation of organs to ensure that donation is maximized for the waiting recipients and our selfless donor families. This dynamic role involves close collaboration with healthcare professionals, logistical coordination, and direct involvement in the organ procurement processes. What You’ll Do Autonomously manage the clinical care of donor heroes Including managing donor lab values, hemodynamics, and ventilation to ensure organ viability Perform critical procedures like bronchoscopies, central line placement, and liver biopsies to both evaluate and optimize organ function Manage organ allocation according to UNOS and Mid-America Transplant policies Ensure close collaboration with transplant centers and surgeons Coordinate OR times and facilitate communication with transplant center staff during organ procurement procedures Facilitate organ and tissue placements for research projects Have a voice on matters of Process Improvement Endeavors What You’ll Bring Registered Nurse with either 2+ years of ER experience OR 1+ years of ICU experience required An eagerness to learn new skills and work in a totally new environment Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work in high-pressure situations and make critical decisions Proficiency in using clinical equipment and medical documentation systems BLS or ACLS Certifications; PALS Certification a plus Schedule WEEKEND DAYS Option .
