POSITION OVERVIEW As the Production Manager at 1937 Cultivation, you will maintain responsibility for production processes and ensuring the safety of manufacturing agents during manufacturing operations; building production plans/schedules; managing day-to-day functions of the production areas; managing all production leads and techs; ensuring that all production leads and techs perform their job duties in such a manner as to ensure the quality, consistency and timeliness of cannabis products throughout the production process. You will ensure that manufacturing equipment and tools function properly and work to continuously improve overall equipment efficiency. You will oversee all aspects of the production operations, with a specific focus on maintaining the highest quality standards, adhering to regulatory requirements, and improving production efficiency.

Responsibilities: Operations Management:

Develop, implement, and hold the team accountable to relevant KPI’s with a focus on continuous improvement. Plan, develop and implement strategy for team to meet established targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity. Develop and implement SOPs and policies to ensure continuing operations and increase quality, productivity, efficiency and guarantee regulatory compliance. Supervise and train production leads and techs to ensure they maintain adequate staffing and appropriate workflows to accomplish goals. Manage the successful implementation of new production processes/products. Execute the production plan daily and according to schedule. Ensure quality, safety, and GMPs standards are followed. Optimize production processes to increase efficiency and minimize waste. Maintain product inventory levels based on sales forecast and production schedules. Collaborate with other departments, such as inventory and fulfillment, to ensure smooth operations and quality product outcomes. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies to include conducting interviews, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, issuing incentive and disciplinary action, and addressing and resolving problems, to create a culture of engagement and high-performance.

Quality Control Management:

Implement and maintain quality control standards and processes for all stages of cannabis production, from cultivation to packaging. Monitor and evaluate product quality through regular inspections, tests, and audits. Hold teams accountable for accurate record keeping and data collection. Analyze facility data, including efficiency metrics, labor variance analysis, defect rates, cost drivers, volume and capacity planning, etc. to make recommendations on optimal quality and efficiency improvements and capital expenditures. Develop and produce reporting to clearly illustrate the data, metric performance, and trends of the business. Oversee the development of associates by ensuring they are cross trained with ability to support other team members, understand SOP’s, department safety measures and total operation.

Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize production processes. Facilitate and lead continuous improvement initiatives, empowering team members to identify solutions and improvements in the production space. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address deviations from quality standards and prevent recurrence. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes and drive operational excellence. Regularly visit the production floor to support and empower production staff, focusing on servant leadership practices like listening, coaching, and supporting team members' growth.

Compliance:

Ensure that all production activities comply with relevant legal requirements and industry standards. Work closely with regulatory agencies and auditors to guarantee adherence to compliance measures. Stay informed about relevant regulations and guidelines governing cannabis production and quality standards.

Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate inventory records of all cannabis products, including raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Collaborate with Inventory Manager to implement inventory control measures to prevent product shortages and overages.

Health and Safety:

Ensure a safe working environment for all production personnel by adhering to safety regulations and protocols. Address and report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Team Leadership:

Lead and motivate a team of production staff to achieve performance targets and production goals. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production team.

Requirements:

21+ years of age Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Proven experience in cannabis production management, with a strong focus on quality control and production. In-depth knowledge of cannabis cultivation, extraction, and product manufacturing processes. Familiarity with local and state regulations governing the cannabis industry. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Exceptional organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping. Ability to adapt to a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
