The Application Support Specialist position provides professional and effective IT monitoring and support services for end users to ensure that the data center and critical applications run efficiently in a 24x7 environment.

Application Support Specialists reach across many departments, providing support for end users as well as working with and escalating to Applications and Engineering teams.

The Application Support Specialist is co-located at a customer site and must professionally represent both Involta and the customer to end users, interdisciplinary teams as well as vendors and suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides 24x7 monitoring and support for all data center operations.

Provides level one SAP security support, to include user account locking/unlocking, role adding/removal, user shell account creation, and approval process management.

Provides level one SAP support to include output queue monitoring/testing, printer monitoring/testing, transaction monitoring, and job schedule management.

Provides SAP interfaces monitoring and lock monitoring.

Performs SAP shutdown and startup via the weekly off-line backup jobs (as needed), and SAP month-end closing procedure.

Performs tape backup job monitoring/reporting and tape vaulting process.

Works with vendor support and the IT service desk during off-hours to assist remote staff in resolving support issues.

Requirements Education and Experience:

Have experience with data center operations

Have experience with hands-on server, printer and system support

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with server hardware and rack management

Familiarity with the basics of tape backup systems

Familiarity with basic operation of heating, cooling and power backup systems.
