If the above holds true for you, then we would love to talk to you Alarm.com is looking for a versatile Site Reliability Engineer to work on our Platform team. You will be part of the team that focuses on supporting our backend infrastructure, both triaging and responding to incidents, supporting our deployments and the associated tooling, as well as analyzing our system for improvements and introducing new technologies to our stack. We work at scale – we have millions of customers and millions of devices sending us data all the time.

Required experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of equivalent work experience in software development, with SRE, and/or Software Engineering(at least some SE experience required)
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills such as: C#, Java, C++, Python
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as: Wavefront, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or SumoLogic
  • Experience with capacity planning, code tuning, and work on a large platform
  • Strong communication skills and experience working across different departments and with stakeholders
  • Willingness to be on call to respond to incidents
  • Willingness to regularly support our production deployments + production maintenances, which can be outside of normal business hours

Nice to haves:

  • IIS webserver experience
  • Experience with technologies like Kafka, Redis, and Elasticsearch
  • Experience with a CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience with database design and development, SQL Server a plus

  • Develop full stack software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies.
  • Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging problems.
  • Take part in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment.
  • Work hard and be flexible: we have quick development cycles, evolving requirements, and lots of cross-team collaboration.
  • Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution. Your work will be used by multiple business units, so you will need to consider many use cases when developing.
  • Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  • Assist in capacity planning of our production environments
  • Help support our deployments, both the tooling and monitoring, as well as responding to production incidents, working close with our monitoring and DevOps teams
  • Bring your ideas We want our engineers to collaborate on product development, not blindly build to a spec.
  • Other duties as assigned
