As a Bioinformatics Technologist II, you will develop and maintain software systems and pipelines for data processing and analysis of next generation sequencing data. When you join Cleveland Clinic, you'll be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare.Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Support existing production pipelines, fix and resolve issues, as needed.Identify, evaluate, and apply new computational methodologies and emerging technologies to improve existing methods and tools.Analyze genomics data in partnership with experimental and computational team members, industry partners and collaborators.Assist other lab members (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows) with training on bioinformatic tools.Other duties as assigned.Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science/software engineering/bioinformatics or related field + 3 years of related experience.Masters degree in a similar field may offset up to two years of work experience.Languages:Language requiredLanguage preferredCertifications:None requiredComplexity of Work:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:Must possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience . Advanced degrees in related fields may offset 2 years of work requirement.Experience in DNA and RNA-seq data analysis. Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing data is a plus.Solid understanding of all stages of software development cycle. Familiarity with agile software development approach is a plus.Fluency in programming languages (Java, Python, Perl, R), UNIX shell scripts and database management systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL).Experience with common bioinformatics tools (BWA, Bowtie, SAMtools, GATK, MuTect, VarScan, Strelka, STAR).Proficiency with Linux/UNIX tools in high-performance computing clusters (HPC) environment. Experience with Cloud Computing is a plus.Excellent presentation and communication skills.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment.Pay RangeMinimum hourly: $30.41Maximum hourly: $46.38The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
