Job Summary:
Assist in the design and development of electronic hardware for instrumentation and measurement of parameters affecting performance of infrastructure in the rail transportation industry.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the design electronic hardware for the measurement of parameters affecting performance of infrastructure in the rail transportation industry
- Perform electronic hardware testing according to established validation test plans
- Collaborate with team members to meet project objectives.
- Participate in the entire range of hardware development activities, including strain gauge transducer design and selection, circuit design, schematics generation, PCB layout, BOM generation, and testing
- Aid in-field testing and debugging
- Maintain existing products including feature enhancements, replacement of obsolescent parts, and resolving other issues as they come up
- B.S. Electrical Engineering or similar educational achievement required
- Internship or similar work experience preferred
- Experience designing mixed signal PCB assemblies involving micro-controllers, A/D converters, and analog electronics preferred
- Experience testing prototype hardware to ensure that it meets product specifications preferred
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented and analytical
- Able to operate signal generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment
- Oral and written communications skills required for interacting with project management, operations, and other engineering team members
- Periodically, the job may require the employee to travel to job sites; ability to travel internationally is required. The employee may occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme cold or heat and moderate to high noise levels
