Job Summary:

Assist in the design and development of electronic hardware for instrumentation and measurement of parameters affecting performance of infrastructure in the rail transportation industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the design electronic hardware for the measurement of parameters affecting performance of infrastructure in the rail transportation industry
  • Perform electronic hardware testing according to established validation test plans
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project objectives.
  • Participate in the entire range of hardware development activities, including strain gauge transducer design and selection, circuit design, schematics generation, PCB layout, BOM generation, and testing
  • Aid in-field testing and debugging
  • Maintain existing products including feature enhancements, replacement of obsolescent parts, and resolving other issues as they come up
Experience, Education & License Requirements:
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or similar educational achievement required
  • Internship or similar work experience preferred
  • Experience designing mixed signal PCB assemblies involving micro-controllers, A/D converters, and analog electronics preferred
  • Experience testing prototype hardware to ensure that it meets product specifications preferred
Skills & Abilities:
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented and analytical
  • Able to operate signal generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment
  • Oral and written communications skills required for interacting with project management, operations, and other engineering team members
  • Periodically, the job may require the employee to travel to job sites; ability to travel internationally is required. The employee may occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme cold or heat and moderate to high noise levels
