Position Overview: A Facilities Engineer position is available, responsible for overseeing infrastructure and equipment in diverse facilities. Leading a skilled team, the Facilities Engineer will contribute to the company's ongoing success. Reporting to the Maintenance Department Leader, the role involves strategic planning, execution, and maintenance of essential systems. Principle Responsibilities: Define facility and equipment specifications. Analyze data, blueprints, and reports for informed decision-making. Design and oversee the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and controls. Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to enhance operational efficiencies. Develop processing plans and optimize resource allocation. Plan and coordinate infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities. Oversee and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, reviewing their activities on the manufacturing floor. Minimize maintenance indirect labor costs, including reducing overtime. Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance is performed on all assets. Adjust preventive and predictive maintenance tasks based on breakdowns and specific equipment recommendations. Continuously review process equipment components to ensure availability as components become obsolete. Handle general accounting tasks, such as payroll and budgeting. Analyze project costs and prepare budgets. Oversee and supervise the quality of work for other employees, ensuring tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively. Manage and review service contracts. Conduct and document regular equipment inspections. Maintain an adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary. Project Management – Obtain Competitive Quotes, Write and Justify Capital Appropriate Requests, Coordinate and execute Capital Projects. Perform make versus buy analyses to determine if in-house maintenance labor or contractor labor is more cost-effective. Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards. Prepare reports and compliance documentation. Measure results using both maintenance and production metrics. Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols. Qualifications: • B.S. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering or a similar role in a heavy manufacturing plant. • Proficient with AutoCAD and MS Office. • Project management skills, including capital project generation, justification, submission, and implementation. • Ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously. • Demonstrated leadership skills – supervising teams consisting of staff and contractors. • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes. • Knowledge of building process and construction principles. • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship. • Demonstrated good decision-making skills. • Experience in a union shop preferred.
