As an Accountant, you will be primarily responsible for supporting operational aspects of the organization within the Finance department. This individual will need to exercise strong attention to detail and accounting knowledge to ensure Bethany's financial records are complete and accurate.

This position may interact with different areas of the financial process to include but not limited to tax filing requirements, collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data as needed. The ideal candidate for this role will have a great understanding of accounting principles, general ledger concepts, attention to detail.

This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory
requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, while preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs;
Prepare monthly reconciliation reports;
Assist with month end accounting allocations and adjusting journal entries;
Communicate and collaborate with a wide range of staff;
Assist with a variety of accounting functions which may include fixed assets, branch imprest accounts, lease accounting and administration, and various revenues and expenses;
Assist with various audits, internal and external;
Assist with certificates of insurance and administration of insurance;
Prepare quarterly financial statements, or other financial reports;
Prepare federal cost reports;
Successfully engage in multiple projects simultaneously;
Have a solid understanding of Bethany's accounting system and procedures;
Complete long term and short-term projects as requested;
Review account discrepancies and reconcile differences;
Promptly respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting key data;
Provide financial counsel by studying operational issues, applying financial practices and principles, and developing recommendations;
Prepare special reports and develop forecast and budgets upon request;
Stay up to date on current financial regulations and accounting best practices by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining a professional network, and participating in professional organizations or groups;
Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's level degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field of study from an accredited college;
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a similar role, preferred;
Advanced knowledge in MS Office Excel and accounting software;
Ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide range of staff;
Professional CPA Certification, a plus;
Demonstrated knowledge of business accounting procedures;
Must possess strong organizational and time management skills;
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated problem-solving and task management skills;
Strong financial and organizational skills;
High attention to detail;
Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
