An Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing, directing and supervising all aspects of electrical engineering on multi-discipline building design projects of moderate to large scope for commercial and government facilities.General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design as a lead engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for building design and site electrical utilitiesMeeting with clients (internal and external) to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of servicesDirecting and supervising the work of EIT's or Designers assigned to the project, particularly where engineering judgment on the part of the EIT/Designer is exercised and unusual or difficult problems are encounteredObtain guidance from senior engineers and the Department Head as necessary to resolve technical and coordination issues and conflicting criteriaComplying with the Company's quality control policies and proceduresProviding and supervising electrical support services during the bidding process, i.e., preparing addenda and amendments as requiredPerforming and supervising electrical construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Project Managers, Managing Principals, Design Principals, Department Directors, Department Head, and senior managementParticipate in team meetings and coordinating efforts with other team membersDirecting, supervising and training junior electrical staff as directedMentoring and monitoring the professional development of junior electrical staffProject responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Perform Senior Engineer tasks as directedServe in the role of discipline Engineer on projects as assignedPreparing scope and fee proposals for the electrical portion of multi-discipline projects or single-discipline, electrical-only projectsConduct project code analysis for review by the discipline Lead EngineerSelection and layout of the building electrical systems, including consideration of alternative systemsPreparing accurate, complete, and code-compliant drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals.Develop details of electrical system componentsReviewing calculations and work products produced by EIT/Designer assigned to the projectReviewing all work products produced by support staff assigned to the projectDevelop discipline specifications for review by the Senior EngineerCoordinate work product with other disciplinesIncorporate responses to QC comments into the project documentsAssist in responding to RFI's, Dr. Check comments, etc.Review and respond to CA submittalsPerform discipline QA/QC review on assigned projectsAdhere to project budget and scheduleEducation, Technology, and ExperienceGraduate of an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering (Building design or power distribution focus), Electrical Engineering Technology (Building design or power distribution focus), Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), orArchitectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)Must be a fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdictionUnderstanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation preferredCertified Energy Manager (CEM), Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD), or Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP), certifications are desirableAdditional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation processActive participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirableAn Electrical Engineer should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information management.Working familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to understand the capabilities and limitations of the programs and interact with the support staff in their use of the software is highly desirable.An Electrical Engineer should typically have 4 years or more of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with a Electrical Engineering firm or a multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable energy codes and standards.Strong experience in the design of building power distribution, lighting, communications and security systems is desirable.Experience as a lead designer or Electrical Engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education or similar projects plus experience in Design/Build and CM at Risk project delivery methods is desirable.Previous experience with wireless communications projects will be given additional consideration for Electrical Engineers assigned to our Wireless Communications division.Additional
