Blocking/grinding technician

We are a locally owned business in Auburn looking for someone interested in working with their hands and learning more about the quality components and the solutions we provide for a competitive edge to our customers We work with optical glasses, metals and materials of all types, turning out components such as windows, mirrors, beam splitters, wedges, prisms, spherical lenses, cylindrical lenses, flow tubes, optical assemblies and many others. We serve a variety of applications in the military, medical, laser systems and scientific markets. Our team here is close and we need someone with the drive and personality to be an addition to our team. We have flexible hours and a great work life balance
salary: $18 - $18.25 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 6 AM - 2:30 PM
education: High School
Responsibilities
- Various metal and glass blocking plates
- Low temp pitch and wax combinations
- Hot plates
- Hand held propane canister "plumber's" torch
- Single spindle grinding machines utilizing loose abrasive grinding compounds
- Loose abrasive grinding compounds
- Various mechanical inspection devices such as vernier calipers, micrometers, drop indicators and spherical gauges
- Degreaser machine, (to remove residual pitch/wax), utilizing EnSolv vapor degreaser solvent, (by Envirotech)
The essential functions of this role include:
working in a smoke free environment manual lifting up to 50lbs standing for 8 hours at one time working up to 8 hrs of overtime per week
