The Leadership Development Manager coaches fellows and volunteers to build the power of young people and to enact meaningful change in their community. Who We Are Forward Montana (FMT) and Forward Montana Foundation (FMF) are dedicated to engaging and mobilizing young Montanans to help shape their democracy and to improve their lives and the lives of fellow Montanans. We put young people on the front lines of civic engagement statewide, basing our efforts out of our three offices in Missoula, Bozeman, and Billings. What You'll Do Reporting to the Director of Voter Engagement, the Leadership Development Manager is responsible for the following: Fellowship & Leadership Facilitation (40%):

Leading and managing the nine-week statewide community organizing fellowship with a commitment to growth and evaluation of the success of the program utilizing data-driven strategies – and the ability to change course depending on what you learn; Updating training materials for volunteer management and development. Fellow Management (30%):

Develop and maintain relationships with diverse young people from around the state of Montana; You must be comfortable training and supervising ten or more fellows remotely across the state.

The fellowship class meetings take place once per week virtually. Topics for facilitation include: field tactics, voter registration, community organizing, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), 1:1’s and relationship building, and personal and community wellness.

Voter Registration Portal (30%):

Learn how to conduct voter registration and manage a statewide online voter registration portal; Other duties as assigned. Note: all Forward Montana staff are expected to participate in GOTV activities close to elections. Must-Haves Management experience:

You have 1-2 years of experience managing volunteers and/or staff. You can run effective virtual meetings and give 100% to your individual check-ins with people you manage. You know how to hold folks accountable to setting and reaching ambitious goals with creativity and flexibility. Organizing experience:

You have 0-1 years of organizing experience, meaning you have knocked on doors, phone-banked, organized events, trained volunteers, and mobilized members for rallies and public comment periods. Actively Anti-Racist:

You are committed to actively contributing to a more equitable and inclusive FMT by facilitating conversations around diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice with the regional field team, fellows, volunteers, members, and within our broader organization. You’re committed to amplifying young voices to advocate for a more progressive, just Montana. You recognize how your own identities show up in the work and welcome, reflect on, and act on feedback with an eye towards continuous learning about race, ability, and other lines of difference.
