We are seeking a Robotic Welder Programmer.

The Robotic Welder Programmer will be responsible for programming and operating robotic welding systems, performing quality inspections, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the welding process, design fixtures, program robot software, and works with internal and external resources to increase efficiency, safety, and quality of robotically welded parts by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Program and set-up the fixtures to hold metal components for assembling structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements.
  • Participate in fixture design to facilitate productive and flexible welding of production parts.
  • Develop templates or tooling to hold and align parts; install fixtures for holding metal parts, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Observe tests on welded surfaces and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product.
  • Control the processes of fitting, burning, and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating, distortion, expansion or shrinking of spare parts.
  • Audits the quality requirements and is capable of reworking or completing missing welds after the robotic process.
  • Provides estimates on fixture design time and production time requirements during quotation process for new parts.
  • Reviews blueprint to determine customer requirements and key characteristics of robotically welded parts or assemblies. Confers with customer or other department members to resolve questions concerning design of fixture or end use of part.
  • Designs robotic fixtures and some tack fixtures as required. Track progress of robotic fixtures through production process. Builds fixtures as necessary. Works with Programmers and Operators on production floor to improve efficiency, provide tooling, improve existing fixtures.
  • Maintains working knowledge of production robotic equipment and can advise/train production personnel in programming and use of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor, lead person or management.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years Robotic Welding and programming experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of robotics and welding.
  • Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Reading blueprints and performing all necessary measurements.
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform quality inspections.
  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Experience with welding software and automation systems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant certification or vocational training in welding.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of Associate's Degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer five years machining center work experience and 2-3 years programming.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
