Position: Civil Engineer - Highways Reports to: Department Manager Civil Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills are preferred. Ability to work independently with guidance from supervisors. Problem-solving capabilities. Responsibilities Design of highways including alignment, grading, stormwater management, traffic control, signing, striping, utility relocation, and erosion control. Prepare calculations, reports, and spreadsheets. Draft technical specifications in accordance with DOT and project requirements. Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates for budgeting and bidding. Lead and collaborate with design teams to develop detailed construction plans. Create and modify engineering plans using AutoCAD or MicroStation. Conduct field investigations, data collection, and infrastructure inventory. Administrative Responsibilities Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineers License in NY or NJ. At least 5 years of experience in civil/site or transportation engineering. Experience with highway design. Knowledge of NYSDOT or NJDOT standards is a plus.
