Standvast is a tech-led Series B startup with a mission to transform the supply chain space with an internally-built fulfillment platform. We fulfill Amazon and Shopify orders for SMB customers, execute automatic replenishments for high-volume FBA customers, and run omnichannel services for enterprises. Team Description

We are a build-first, cloud-first, remote-first engineering team. DevOps, CI/CD, and TDD are foundational assumptions. We are a Python/Django shop with React front ends, Databricks as our data platform, Tableau as a BI tool, and AWS as our infrastructure. Most on the team come from a background in large distributed systems in a retail environment.

Role Description

This role will lead our data engineering team reporting to the VP Technology. This is a lead-level, hands-on technical role with leadership responsibilities. We're looking for an experienced technical contributor who lead other engineers from the front, propose, plan, and execute initiatives, and drive operational excellence. Projects range from data integrations with enterprise systems (e.g. Netsuite, HRIS) to building big data solutions to host predictive modeling.

Responsibilities

- Write code and build data solutions as a primary job responsibility - Work in partnership with product managers and stakeholders to design solutions - Oversee and mentor data engineers and analysts, leading by example - Set direction on how the team works in terms of agile process, code quality, deployments, and support - Maintain high operational excellence, participating in an on-call support rotation for the data team

Requirements

- BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience - 7+ years of professional data engineering experience, including project leadership - High proficiency in SQL and Python - Experience building large scale production solutions using a modern data platform product (Databricks preferred) - Experience with big data solutions (e.g. Hadoop), especially in service of hosting ML models
