Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in nuclear safety support of operations and engineering system design.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerforms tracking and trending of Nuclear Safety performancePerforms maintenance/supports Nuclear Safety operability or engineering evaluations when necessaryPrepares problem disposition reports for assigned projectsPrepares and reviews USQ Screenings and USQDsPerforms reviews of Safety Basis documentsPrepares new and revised Safety Basis DocumentsPerforms project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress and preparation of proceduresIdentifies and evaluates project issues and problemsEnsures compliance with DOE regulations and standardsConducts NS review and provides input to feasibility studies and evaluates potential technologiesPerforms research to analyze and validate NS aspects of design or theory conceptsResponsible for technical ownership of assigned Nuclear Safety projectsSubject matter expert for assigned Nuclear Safety projectsAssists in training preparation and facilitationEvaluates operations and proposed modifications to determine compliance with engineering disciplines and standards, federal, state or local statutes and regulations as well as project/company policyLead role for projects as assignedPartners with senior Nuclear Safety Engineers in completing assigned engineering tasks and job functionsEnsures compliance with DOE regulations and standardsPrepares or reviews Un-reviewed Safety Question Determinations (USQDs) and reviews USQD screensInterfaces with other technical and production organizations to compile the technical information required to prepare documentationServes as a resource for lower level positionsProvides assigned technical or functional support to team membersPerforms a variety of tasks complex in natureOther job related duties as assignedMaintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe mannerActively participates in Safety Work GroupsPOSITION REQUIREMENTSBS degree in a related field and 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Typical experience ranges from 7 - 10 years.Expert understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations and industry practicesExpert knowledge of applicable codes and standards, as well as project proceduresStrong interpersonal and communication skillsUnderstanding of multiple engineering disciplinesMust possess a DOE "L" clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE "L" ClearanceSKILLS/ABILITIESCritical Thinking - Evaluate and interpret data, facts, and information to create unique and creative solutions and proposals.Interpersonal Skills - Able to communicate effectively with different people in varying fields and positions.Teamwork - Work collaboratively not only with members of the Aleut Team but with outside clients, customers, and contractors.Organizational Proficiency - Plan, prioritize, and achieve goals to maximize the impact of the role of senior contract specialist.Flexibility/Adaptability - Able to cope and adjust with the inevitable disruptions to the best laid plans of mice and men.Drive - Motivated to succeed and be a part of the success of the Aleut Federal mission of giving back to our Shareholders, providing our clients with consistent excellence in execution, and bettering communities by being an active participant in our local markets.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to pass a pre-employment background screening.
