DescriptionSummaryEnsures all assigned areas of the community are clean, neat, and tidy.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Efficiently and effectively clean resident apartments, including but not limited to taking out garbage, sweeping, vacuuming, and/or mopping, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing linens, and sorting, washing, and putting away laundry. Assist with resident transfer to another room if needed while apartment is being cleaned. Efficiently and effectively clean restrooms and other common areas of the community. Ensures chemicals are marked appropriately and locked away when not in use. Lead Housekeeper leads and guides other housekeepers and is responsible for quality control. Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care. Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director. Maintain confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions. Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, but the Lead Housekeeper provides guidance and leadership to other Housekeepers.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Must satisfy all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.Education/Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of housekeeping experience strongly preferred. Assisted living or long-term care facility experience preferred.Certificates and Licenses: No certifications or licenses are required.Communication Skills: Receive and carry out verbal or written instruction. Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via email with customers and co-workers.Organization/Self-Management Skills: Perform repetitive work according to set procedures, with frequent distractions and interruptions. Must be able to recognize a problem and identify when it should be escalated to an appropriate team member.Computer Skills: May require proficiency with computers to participate in training and/or other assigned tasks.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe Physical Demands and Work Environment described below represent the activities and surroundings of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical DemandsConstantly stands and frequently walks about assigned areas of the community, handling and moving objects such as cleaning tools and supplies, household items, and furniture weighing up to 50 pounds. Must frequently twist and rotate head, neck, and torso, reach high or low with arms and hands and constantly use manual dexterity, as well as bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb step ladders and/or stairs. Must be able to visually assess cleanliness of assigned areas and detect audible alarms, bells, and signals related to safety. Work EnvironmentThis position is most frequently situated inside of a climate-controlled assisted living community, with a low to moderate noise level. Housekeepers perform repetitive motions in the course of their work. In certain circumstances, a staff member may be exposed to communicable diseases and infections, other biological hazards, and various drugs and chemicals. Due to these potential hazardous exposures, you may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in addition to universal precautions.
