Description

SUMMARY:

Inspects lease wellhead equipment to maintain the performance; keeps accurate records of production on gas leases; checks oil, gas, and water levels and monitors gauges for correct pressure; and performs maintenance and minor repairs on lease equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintains operations of wellhead equipment; keeps accurate records of production; troubleshoots and correct issues, gauges tank batteries, maintains pumping units, saltwater pumps, repairs small leaks, and reports production information.
  • Operates, tests and inspects pumping and wellhead equipment to ensure proper operation; operates and maintains electrical panels, gas engines, testers, phase separators, water knock outs, heaters and stock tank, and all other wellhead equipment and compressors on sites. Ensures detection of oil, water or gas leaks, broken seals on tank valves, and proper operations of equipment; collects, analyzes and resets malfunctions on automated wells.
  • Repairs production equipment such as replacing defective valve seats, replacing elements in filters on compressor skids, minor repairs to stop leaks, etc. Replaces gas meter batteries and updates charts.
  • Reads and records daily data from lease oil and gas measurement equipment; completes required paperwork (e.g. gauge sheets, compressor and engine logs, and preventative maintenance logs); enters daily production readings and well test readings; runs all required reports and recognizes when well production is declining; and completes time sheets, daily work sheets and logs.
  • Ensures tank thief hatches are securely closed; ensures lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Advises water haulers when water is ready for pickup and disposal.
  • Picks up at yard and transports solvent, grease, oils, valve seats, gloves and other materials required for regular activities at work sites.
  • Ensures proper servicing, maintenance, and security for assigned Company vehicle.
  • Maintains general lease/well appearances; and maintains leases, wells, and pipeline right-of-way signs and various safety signs.
  • Performs other duties as determined and required based on project need.
Requirements

EDUCATION:

Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical or vocational training preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least two - five (2-5) years equipment maintenance and repair experience within an oil and gas production plant/facility.

SKILLS:

Must have the following skills and/or abilities:
  • In depth knowledge of the electrical panels, gas engines, testers, phase separators, water knock outs, heaters and stock tank, and all other wellhead equipment and compressors on sites.
  • In depth understanding of how to test, repair or adjust equipment to retain or recover lost production.
  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal safety and environmental rules and regulations in assigned areas.
  • Working knowledge of computer software used to create and track work orders for mechanical maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of lab top, note pad, or other hand held and computer devices.
  • Strong ability to read and understand maintenance/operations manuals for equipment specifications parts and procedures in order to identify and ensure timely repairs are made.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, delegation, and time management skills in order to set priorities and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills to develop feasible realistic solutions to problems, recommending actions designed to prevent problems from occurring, and resolving escalated issues when necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of and adherence to company and OSHA safety guidelines applicable to the work to include maintaining up-to-date safety knowledge.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have a current Texas driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform the following physical activity on a frequent to constant basis:
  • Sit for long periods of time while driving between Company yard and job sites.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Lift 40-60 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or equipment to exact positions.
  • Repeatedly use fingers and hands to handle, install, position, and move materials, and manipulate tools.
  • Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site.
  • Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate various types of machinery and handheld equipment.
  • Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
  • Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.
  • Climb and balance on stairs, metal/wooden beams, ladders, or other structures/elevated areas.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work primarily at job site performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site; and may also include the following:
? dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and/or other harsh/hazardous solvents or disinfectants

? electrical components, power lines, or other electrical hazards

? rebar, blades, or other sharp objects/tools

? high elevations, trenches, or crawl spaces
  • Travel locally during the work day between company yard and multiple jobsites, although some out-of-area travel may be expected with seldom overnight travel.
  • Work irregular hours to include nights and weekends.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of equipment and gauge maintenance.
  • Actively search for equipment issues, document and perform routine, quarterly, and annual maintenance via the equipment manual.
  • Follow to and enforce all applicable company, state and federal safety and environmental rules and regulations in assigned areas.
