Position Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Environmental Manager, the role of the Environmental Coordinator is to support and strengthen the environmental competencies across the organization and to ensure regulatory compliance. The Environmental Coordinator must be an active participant in field presence auditing and recordkeeping. Under the direction of the Environmental Manager, this role will serve as an on-site contact for waste contractors, inspectors, and other Kosmos personnel, as directed by the Environmental Manager.

The Environmental Coordinator must be exceptionally detail-oriented, with strong communication skills. In this role, you must demonstrate a commitment to adhering to, and improving the environmental policies in all work environments and areas. This role will actively work with the Environmental Manager to observe and evaluate Kosmos operations and implement improvements, as needed.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the duties of the Environmental Coordinator include:

  • Air, water, waste, EPCRA, and federally threatened & endangered species compliance
  • Performing fieldwork and gathering data for reporting (ex: stormwater sampling, waste collection processes, etc.)
  • Reporting and recordkeeping
  • Preparing and furnishing data for audits, as requested
  • Assisting plant leadership in their communications with inspectors and the community
  • Conducting audits and inspections periodically to confirm compliance with applicable company and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting the Company's associated cement terminal operations, as needed
    • Note: Occasional off-site and overnight travel may be required
  • Drafting permit applications and compliance plans
  • Provide general administration support, as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects, and provide accurate, agreed-upon deliverables in a timely manner
  • Strong time management skills; must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize work according to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to influence others
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team
Qualifications:

Entry-level personnel will be considered for the role if certain conditions are met (e.g., strong desire to learn and be mentored, passion for subject matter, demonstrable transferrable skills, relevant coursework, etc.)
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent years of experience)
  • Experience: 3 years of relatable work experience; MSHA and OSHA experience is preferred
  • Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word), PDF, database systems
Offsite Travel Requirements:
  • 10% - Some overnight travel may be required
