12th April, 2024Our client in Rome, NY is looking for an Aerospace Engineer. This is an on-site/full-time/direct hire position. Salary based on experience: $95k-$160k Job Summary As a Space Domain Awareness Engineer, you will be working as part of a team developing state-of-the-art algorithms and software capabilities to enhance the US Space Force's capabilities related to Space Domain Awareness. As a member of the program team, the successful candidate will research, develop, and implement advanced concepts and algorithms. The successful candidate will be under the direction of a Principal Engineer or Investigator but is also expected to be able to work independently and/or lead small groups of engineers focused on a specific task. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting proposal initiatives or further business.Minimum Qualifications: •A M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or a B.S. plus of 10 years of experience working in a relevant, research, development or engineering position. •Practical experience with modeling, simulation, and analysis of complex space domain systems. •Demonstrable experience in simulation and analysis of satellite orbital maneuvers, attitude maneuvers, satellite operations, and/or satellite design •Working software programming proficiency using Python and/or Java. •Strong written and presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: •5+ years of Engineering direct experience working on SDA or Space Situational Awareness (SSA) projects •Strong mathematical background in probability and statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, numerical methods, estimation methods, and astrodynamics. •Experience with typical satellite tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) •Working proficiency in astrodynamics libraries such as Orekit, Skyfield, etc. •Experience formulating and writing proposals supporting new project development activities •Familiarity with Agile software development processes and tools (including JIRA and Gitlab) •Ability to work at a customer facility in a multi-contractor team environment. NOTE: Due to security and other customer requirements, remote work potential is very limited. •Current, active US Department of Defense Security Clearance Special Requirements: •U.S. citizenship is required for employment. •Continued employment will require that the successful candidate obtain and continuously maintain a US Department of Defense security clearance. •Ability to support occasional travel to customer sites for technical meetings and demonstrations (approx. 10% CONUS travel) Location Preference is for successful candidates to be based near our client's Rome, NY office which is the primary location for the performance of our Space Domain Awareness activities. However, qualified candidates will be considered from other strategic company/customer locations in the following priority order: 1. Rome/Syracuse NY 2. Buffalo, NY 3. Colorado Springs, CO 4.
