Company is excited to be working with a premier mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC commercial work in the Twin Cities and the Midwest. Our client specializes in design build HVAC projects, cradle to grave construction, and installation. Our client has experienced tremendous growth in new construction which led to this opportunity to seek an expert in HVAC design, project management, client relationship building, and management for their Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Technology, and Institutional HVAC projects. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to:

Responsibilities: Review a RFP from an Owner or General Contractor.

  • Perform preliminary HVAC design layouts and calculations as required for an accurate estimate.
  • Generate the HVAC estimate by performing material take-offs, estimating labor, and gathering equipment and subcontractor quotes.
  • Create the proposal that clearly explains scope and design intent.
  • Work with the CAD technician to generate Construction Documents with coordination of the design team, Owner, and General Contractor.
  • Write purchase orders for equipment and Subcontractors.
  • Work with the Foreman and the installation team to fabricate and install the designed HVAC solution while maintaining the construction schedule and budget.
  • Manage subcontractors for your project.
  • Review monthly cost reports and project billings.
  • Closeout the project by managing warranty items and closeout documents.
  • Assist with business development by building rapport with new and existing clients, such as private owners, and general contractors

Requirements: At least 5 years of experience designing commercial, institution, health care, or manufacturing HVAC projects

  • Passion and creativity in solving project challenges
  • Ability to communicate (sometimes complex) HVAC solutions to clients with limited HVAC knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and develop their own book of business with a niche clientele
  • P.E. (or ability to) required
