Note: Eligibility for benefits may vary by location. Job Summary and Qualifications This is a Full Time Evening shift position, 4 x 10 hr shifts. Hours typically range from 12:30?pm to 11:00?pm. Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist and according to State Board of Pharmacy regulations, the Lead Pharmacy Tech will perform assigned duties involving preparation, distribution, and billing of pharmaceuticals, and will be responsible for other tasks as assigned. They will assist the manager with overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, assist in the maintenance of controlled substance documentation, and assist in controlled substance surveillance. They will also assist the manager in making technician schedules and make recommendations to the Director and Manager regarding performance evaluation. What You Will Do In This Role Identify critical issues, prioritize workload, and communicate to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Complete all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency. Comply with facility policy, procedures and regulatory requirements. Interact in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately. Accurately maintain and coordinate required documentation logs. Provide direction and training to other technicians as assigned. Assist in the supervision of other technicians to ensure policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are uniformly and consistently followed. Maintain medication storage and security as per regulatory requirements throughout the organization. Accurately perform audits (e.g., anesthesia, overrides, billing) as assigned. Perform and monitor compliance for quality control and performance improvement functions as assigned. Accurately perform and document monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned. Perform and supervise other technicians for administrative billing functions as assigned. Complete and monitor OR charges in a timely manner as assigned. Assist the pharmacists in clinical reviews as assigned (e.g., medication reconciliation, triaging reports). Perform technician scheduling as assigned. Comply and supervise ongoing processes to monitor outdates as per policy and procedures. Perform receiving and check?in of medication/supply orders as defined in policy and notify the pharmacy inventory manager/buyer of any shortages, overages or product damage. Manage drug supplies in a cost?effective manner and identify opportunities to minimize waste. Assume the role of the Inventory Manager/buyer when that person is not available or as assigned. Work with Inventory Manager, IV room and utilize EXP reports to reduce expirations and waste in the ADC. Identify, analyze and evaluate data from a variety of sources as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement. What Qualifications You Will Need TX State Board registration required (Registered Pharmacy Tech). National Certification required (PTCB). Associate or Bachelor degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of hospital experience. Supervisor experience preferred.
