Psychiatry Inpatient Medical Director needed in Derby CT (Permanent)70 miles to NYCFull time, permanentWill provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with psychiatric disorders. This involves working with patients across various demographics and ensuring they receive the highest standard of care within the inpatient setting.When assigned, provides appropriate supervision for students and residents.Responsible for collaboration with other staff.Responsible for assuring coordinated care within the assigned setting and assuring continuity of care within the psychiatric department.Participates in evaluation of the quality of services provided.Demonstrates administrative and organizational skills.Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to all institutional, regulatory, legal and professional guidelines governing the provision of mental health services.Maintains responsibility for attendance/reliability to ensure that the Hospital is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Contributes to the mission of the Organization by supporting Employee Philosophy, Planetree Model of Care, and organizational goals.Psychiatry Medical Director - Key Role Details:Team Oversight: Oversees one inpatient psychiatric unit as Medical Director, which includes the care team providers and an APRN who provides both inpatient and medical floor consults.Inpatient Unit: 14 adult-only beds, with an average daily census of 14 patients.Work Schedule: Monday Friday, approximately 8:00 8:30 AM to 4:30 5:00 PM.Call Schedule:Weekday evenings: phone-only, approximately 1 per week.Weekend on-site rounding: averages 1 per month (with additional pay; option to take more weekends for additional compensation).Legal holidays: 1 in 6 on-site rounding.Clinical vs. Administrative Time: Primarily clinical, with a minimum of 10 patients seen daily. Administrative duties vary depending on unit needs and hospital committee involvement.EDUCATION:Board Certified Psychiatrist.EXPERIENCE:Minimum two-year experience preferred.
