Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating with accounting peers and coaching/mentoring junior accountants. Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all aspects of the general accounting monthly close cycle, including performing accruals and completing some analyses Serves as the liaison for all accounting-related issues/questions/concerns for management Produce all financial reports and statements Routine interactions with other accounting cycle functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll BREAKDOWN OF DUTIES: 30% - Production of Final Statement 30% - Reconciliation – Bank statements, general ledgers, journal entries, and maintaining balance sheets. 20% - Analysis - Reviewing preliminary results; performing inquiries of pre and post financial statements. 10% - Audits 10% - Reporting: Usage tax, sales and use tax, unclaimed property tax reports Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field coupled with a minimum of 5 years of experience Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, Peachtree/Sage, Solomon, Management Reporter, FRx, and Planful Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, SUMIF functions, and Pivot tables Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite. SKILLS CRITICAL TO MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN ROLE: Be an organized, independent, self-motivated, and driven employee, comfortable with making sound decisions. Critical thinking skills - Rise to the occasion and create solutions to problems while being consistent, accurate, and timely. Ability to multi-task and analyze priorities as things come up, being flexible in the process. Have an aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills partnered with a passion for accounting. Ability to present information clearly and accurately to individuals one-on-one and in a group setting. Show an ability to process information with speed and accuracy.
