Tax Manager

Our Client, an established building and construction organization, is looking for a Tax Managerto lead and support the business on a variety of sales and use tax matters including filing sales & use tax returns, review and response to all audit requests, and all necessary reporting to governmental agencies. TAX MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for indirect taxes including sales and use tax, research escheatment, set up and process all property taxes and any other applicable matters.
• Prepare tax exemption certificates for vendors and ensure compliance with all indirect tax requirements.
• Perform routine month-end close journal entry accruals and corresponding tax balance sheet account reconciliations, and all other ad-hoc requests.
• Provide expertise for AP and AR groups on payables and receivables in anticipation of new or evolving business practices or tax legislation.
• Be a subject matter expert within indirect tax and interface with external tax accounting firm for income tax, franchise tax, R&D tax credits, and any other related incentives for favorable taxable income.
• Manage indirect tax audits, respond to all regulatory agencies regarding support and documentation requests.
• Maintain all documentation for desk procedures, internal controls, and any other documentation requirements per record retention policies.

TAX MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• Masters degree in accounting or tax preferred.
• CPApreferred.
• 8+ years experience successfully managing sales and use tax required.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely manner with excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Detail oriented, ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong technology skills, using tax software and general ledger systems preference for Avalara.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to deliver results under pressure with competing priorities.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
• Ability to function as a leader and team player.
