As a provider of residential services to children who have experienced situations of abuse, neglect, or homelessness, we must take the utmost care when reviewing candidates. Hiring policies are taken directly from the state and federal standards under which we operate. All candidates must agree to a SC Central Registry Check, SLED check, and fingerprinting.

Position Summary and Purpose:

The Cottage Supervisor is responsible for the direction, management, and supervision of the residential team in the delivery of programs, activities, and services for residents in their designated cottage. The Cottage Supervisor serves as the primary leader for their assigned cottage during shift hours, after regular business hours, and on scheduled weekends.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plans, schedules, supervises, and coordinates the daily work of the residential teammates in your designated cottage.
  • Works in collaboration with the Care Coordinator to provide needs-based staffing that meet ratio requirements for child supervision, activities, appointments, transportation, and on-site events.
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned team members are in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards including educational requirements such as mandatory training sessions.
  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned team members.
  • Holds assigned team members accountable to established policies and procedures in conjunction with the Interim Executive Director.
  • Supervises routine shift maintenance of assigned cottage and reports any issues to maintenance.
  • Reviews Paid Time Off requests for staffing feasibility and determines approval status.
  • Holds regular and as needed staff meetings and training sessions with Youth Care Specialist I, II, and Team Leads that work in your designated cottage.
  • Holds one-on-one meetings with direct reports on a monthly basis or more frequently if needed.
  • Serves as a member of the intake team in the designated cottage being responsible for ensuring all aspects of the intake process are completed successfully for new admissions.
  • Translates and interprets pertinent information from leadership meetings to assigned team members.
  • Serves as a contact person for outside groups, agencies, volunteers and/or visitors as needed.
  • Collaborates with Care Coordinator and Social Worker in development and implementation of a therapeutic setting for the residents in the Enhanced Care Program.
  • Intervenes, responds to, assesses and reports on critical incidents and emergencies. Assist direct reports with de-escalation when needed.
  • Serves as a member of the treatment team to assist the Care Coordinator in evaluating goal progress and placement stability for residents residing in the designated cottage.
  • Works in collaboration with Care Coordinator and Social Worker to provide support with family visitation as needed

Education and Training:

A bachelor's degree in a Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required. Two years' experience in a group home setting, with prior supervisory experience, is required.

License:

A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, etc.

Constant: standing. Frequent: repetitive use of hand, walking, standing, bending neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting neck and waist, simple and power grasping of left and right hand, fine manipulation of left and right hand, reaching above shoulder level, reaching below shoulder level. Lifting objects up to 50 pounds from below the waist to a height of 3 feet. Restraining, with assistance, minors up to 18 years of age, weighing 150 pounds or more for up to 30 minutes. Occasionally running up to 75 feet over uneven ground. Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects or children.
