PHYSICAL THERAPY MANAGER

Position Summary:The Supervising Physical Therapist is directly responsible to the Director, or their designee, and has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students utilized in the facility. Also, he/she is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all patient care programs, plans for providing care, performance improvement programs, policies and procedures, maintaining adequate qualified and competent personnel, adequate space and equipment to ensure a high degree of quality patient care. Manager will communicate needs of staff and clinic directly with Director of department.Position Responsibilities/Standards: Location: WestervilleGeneralAttend department, clinic or company meetings as requiredDemonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concernsConsistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members.Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.Attend required annual in-service programs.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures.Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.SpecificSupervision - to supervise the activities of the entire facility including:Scheduling patients for treatment and evaluationPreparation of reports and records by facility personnelUse of volunteers who may assist in the facilityStaff and Student Physical Therapist /Physical Therapist Assistant training programEvaluationsTo be responsible for the evaluation of all patients referred for Physical TherapyTo be responsible for completion and submission of all reports pertaining to the evaluationTo see that all referral sources are advised of facility action with the case referredTreatmentTo practice Physical Therapy consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of PracticeTo maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the facilityTo confer with the person(s) most closely associated with the active management of the patient and to keep them information of any additional patient needs, treatment modification, and/or progressTo treat patients and function as a Staff Physical Therapist as necessaryRespects and understands the patient's right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisionsPractices ethical responsibility based on the cultural, ethnic and religious beliefs of the patients served a applicable lawRecords and ReportsTo be responsible for the preparation and submitting of facility reports, assuring confidentiality of all records, includingEvaluation reports/summariesDischarge reports/summariesProgress reports to referring physicians and agenciesCurrent progress notes on all patientsSpecial reports request by the Manager, Director or designeeDaily attendance records and summaries of sameMeetings and ConferenceTo attend quarterly and/or monthly meetingsTo hold regular facility meetings to:Report on and discuss activities and needs of facilityDiscuss patient's needs and progressDiscuss reports and recordsDiscuss expansion in terms of future goals and needsTo see that all facility routines and procedures are carried out as outlinedProfessional Status and Public RelationsTo keep abreast of new techniques and trends in the field of Physical TherapyTo attend conventions meetings, or special courses whenever possible and to share with personnel information gained therebyTo prepare and give talks to community groups as requestedTo maintain good public relations with all community sourcesDelegation of ResponsibilityTo delegate portions of the above listed duties to department/facility personnel with approval of the Director or his designee, and in line with the best use of time and experience of such personnelNew PersonnelTo assist with recruitment of applicants for positionsOrient new personnel to the program and proceduresFacility PersonnelTo evaluation, and report at regular intervals, the work of other employees, students, or volunteers within the facilityPlanningTo plan for future improvement in procedures and organization of the facility and/or companyTo assist the Manager and Director in planning of any new programs to be developed within the facility and/or companyPolicies and ProceduresTo keep current and adhere to policies and procedures as enumerated in the Policy and Procedures ManualTo assist the Manager and/or Director with the revision of any procedures with facility personnel as necessaryEducation/Experience Required:Must be a graduate of, have a certificate from, an American Physical Therapy Association approved school of Physical Therapy; or a school approved by the World Congress of Physical Therapy; current state of Ohio license and/or registration is requiredMust have verification card of current instruction in CPRMust know the principles and practice of Physical Therapy; be familiar with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics; facility policies, procedures, and regulations; layout of the facility; be aware of inter- and intra-facility communications; supervision and management techniquesMust be able to apply the theory of Physical Therapy; have the ability and competency to operate the equipment of his or her position; perform technical procedures, speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others; supervision and management skillsMust be able to instill confidence in patients, doctors and personnel.Must be able to determine proper procedure and methods and evaluate results, must make decisions on his or her own.Must be able to adapt to emergency situation,Must be alert to changes in the patient's condition and all activities of the facility and company.Must have a high degree of accuracy in carry out prescription, in receiving and translating information and in charting and reporting.Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications of procedures; techniques of assisting and handling patients; ability to handle the tools and machines of the profession.Supervising responsibility:Responsible for making recommendations and/or decisions for hiring, corrective actions, terminations and performance evaluations. Assist with payroll processing, invoice verification and coding along with staff schedule and maintenance. Manager will assist in budget forecasting and analytical analysis for respective clinic location.Physical Requirements:Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel. Ability to demonstrate exercises properly without limitations. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift 25-50 lbs.
