7a-7pSummary of DutiesInterprets medication orders, compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical preparations in accordance with the legal, ethical, regulatory, and professional standards of pharmacy practice. Essential Job FunctionsDispenses medications and pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, in compliance with department and hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and professional standards; maintains the appropriate recordsPrepares and/or supervises the preparation of parenteral medicationsFills and/or checks unit dose cartsFills and/or supervises the preparation of newly ordered medicationsAssists the Director of Pharmacy in coordinating and implementing the activities of the PharmacySupervises the technical support staffAssists with clinical, quality management, and education programs. Consults with and advises medical and nursing staffs on matters related to drugs and drug products; documents the outcomes of the consultations of the Intervention LogMaintains and reviews patient medication profiles and ensures confidentiality of patient informationProvides drug information to healthcare professionals and patientsMonitors profile for drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, and appropriate drug therapy and durationPerforms other duties as assignedEducationBachelor's degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy and licensed in the State of Alabama.ExperiencePrior hospital pharmacy experience preferred.Physical Requirements for Essential Job FunctionsMust be able to transport and/or lift an object intermittently throughout the workday up to a maximum of 20 poundsMust be able to walk, stand, and work for extended periods of time without reliefMust possess dexterity of arms, hands, and fingers bilaterallyMust be able to work with hands for up to 12 hours a dayMust be able to push/pull carts weighing up to 200 poundsMust possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of this position can be fully met
