Supervisor Registered Nurse (RN) - Family Medicine This position must have basic knowledge of family medicine and be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients. The Supervisor RN is responsible for the coordination of the MyMichigan Physicians Group and the Physician Enterprise to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. They will maintain and oversee employees and patients at the office location and will act as the liaison with other subsidiary and organization's personnel. This position orders all medical and office supplies to manage patient care. The Supervisor RN will assure compliance with the policies/procedures of MyMichigan Physicians Group, the Physician Enterprise, and the Health Care System by maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations, and corporate compliance. The Supervisor RN will coordinate and train new employees, including float staff. The position will provide teaching to patients and their family members. Manages the patient with pain management and symptom management, and will be available for office emergencies. Calls in prescriptions and teaches the patient and family the reasons for the medication and side effects. Coordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers. This position provides daily direction and problem solving to clinical and administrative staff and assists the practice manager in short-range planning. Responsibilities: Coordinates and trains new employees, and float staff and conducts coaching and disciplinary conversations. Assists with job performance reviews for all staff. Processes time keeping in the Kronos system for bi-weekly payroll. Facilitates the hiring process and selection of new employees. Establishes work schedule for clinic staff. Performs clinical duties as needed including triaging patient calls and reporting test results to patients. Assess patients as appropriate and serve as a liaison between the provider and patient. Handles day-to-day clinical operations in the practice and utilize critical thinking skills to resolve issues. Interacts positively with patients and families in an ongoing way. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from MPG services and the services of MyMichigan Health. Other Duties And Responsibilities: Interacts positively with patients and families during severe stress situations. Demonstrates critical thinking and integration of theory to practice for patients in the clinic. Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies. Understands necessary Epic computer functions in the office setting, as well as Dictation systems, and any other necessary programs. Rooms patients during office visits and performs and records all vital signs. Provides teaching to patients and staff on subjects related to family medicine. Provides coverage for the practice manager. Manages the patient with symptoms management and will be available for care emergencies. Calls in prescriptions and teaches the patient and family the reasons for the medications and side effects. Coordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers. Serves as a resource to technical, clerical and medical staff. Identifies preventative maintenance needs for any office equipment. Assists in performance reviews of clinical staff and conducts follow-up as appropriate. Certifications and Licensures: BLS - Basic Life Support Required RN - Registered Nurse Required Education: Associates Degree Comments: Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred Experience, Training And Skills: Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees. Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups. PC software knowledge must include: Excel and Word. Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals. Prefer 1 year of supervisory experience. Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief, and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment. Is able to move freely about facility. Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently. Physical Demand Level: Medium.
