Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Contracts Specialist position ensures the smooth coordination of operational requirements of expense contracting and insurance services. Assists in the development, tracking and communication of all contract processes with affected departments. Communicates contract implementation, education and interpretation to organizational staff, Medical Staff, Board of Directors and departments. Takes initiative in resolving contract issues and/or refers problems to the appropriate levels for resolution. The Contracts Specialist conducts insurance claims reporting and carries out insurance policy management functions. In addition, this position receives/fields complaints regarding leased property issues and must handle situations that arise in a highly professional, tactful and diplomatic manner.

This position will operate as a Contracts Specialist and have an opportunity to advance into the Senior Contracts Specialist position as qualified and available.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Minimum of three year's recent/relevant experience in Healthcare Administration, Materials Management, Healthcare Contract Negotiations, Business Office or other healthcare related field required. (Qualifications for advancement into the Senior Contracts Specialist position include obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Legal degree and/or Healthcare OR five years recent/relevant experience in Healthcare Administration, Materials Management, Healthcare Contract Negotiations or the Business Office OR completion of a Contracts Certification Program.)
  • *Must meet all DMV requirements listed below.
Knowledge:
  • Expense contracting, or Finance, Healthcare Law, Joint Commission (JC)/Compliance/Federal requirements
  • Real Estate practices to include property purchases and leases; capital equipment purchases and leases and equipment service and maintenance agreements.
  • IT Software License and Support Maintenance Agreements
  • Insurance policies and claims reporting experience
  • Registry Service Agreements, Student Preceptorship & Education Agreements
  • Licensing, Permits and Registrations
  • Loan Guarantees, Grants; Construction Projects; Reagent and Transfer agreements.
  • Professional Services, Telemedicine Agreements
  • Purchased Services, affiliations, Acquisition/Joint Ventures, Partnerships
  • Negotiation analysis, writing and interpreting requests for proposals and closing strategies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Software
Skills:
  • Ability to negotiate effectively
  • Communication of complex contractual issues to multiple hospital departments, administration and medical staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to re-prioritize workload as needed and meet deadlines.
  • Frequent use of office equipment, telephone, keyboard, 10 key
  • Organizational skills, report generation and contract interpretation skills
