Position SummaryThe Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) functions as a member of a progressive, interdisciplinary team. The Certified Addictions Counselor impacts the health of individuals, families and the community through health promotion, disease prevention and chronic disease care including monitoring and evaluating health services and outcomes and documenting services. The Certified Addictions Counselor supports patients, families and the community to achieve their highest level of wellness, learn to live with or recover from illness or addiction, and to enhance their care capabilities and to support their right to make choices. A valued member of the treatment team, the Certified Addictions Counselor is strategically placed to optimize exercising his/her knowledge and expertise as a counselor and educator for patients and families. The addiction counselor will provide direct service care via individual and group therapy to our medication assisted treatment patients. They will complete required documentation, work with family/supports, coordinate care, follow-up services and safety planning; and work with a multidisiplinary team to provide a holistic approach to care. Essential Duties and FunctionsProvide individual and Group CounselingMaintain caseload of 35+ patientsResponsible for Clinical chart documentation including: Treatment Plans, DAP notes, Case Consultations and Psychosocial AssessmentsAttend and Present Clinical Case Consultations, Treatment Plan Update meetings and clinical supervisions as scheduled.Provide crisis interventionAssist in client aftercare planning and follow-upFacilitate specialty groups as assignedEvaluate client's progress and report to funders/referral sources as requestedDetermine resources needed to meet the individuals needs identified in the assessment process and coordinate community support activitiesTo take all necessary actions in assuring the implementation of comprehensive service plan( treatment plan) including serving as an advocate for the client to enable him or her to receive needed services: identification of program needs, service gaps, and recommending strategies. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of behavioral health care and the social determinants of health Knowledge of concepts of health promotion, disease prevention, behavior change counseling, program planning, individual and group counselingExcellent organizational skills to manage numerous practice activitiesProficiency in computer skills, familiarity with Electronic Medical Records and willingness to learn all computer systemsUnconditional ability to maintain HIPAA regulationsLeadership skills that include the ability and desire to champion teambuilding within the programDemonstrates effective time management skills and follow throughSupport the Center's commitment to the creation of a trauma-informed system of care. Demonstrate cultural competence/proficiency in interactions with others by treating co-workers, colleagues and those receiving service with respect and fairness at all times.Awareness and sensitivity to the structural conditions and power dynamics as they may impact healthAbility to build and maintain positive and professional relationships based on respect, trust, and safety. Ability to create a space for staff and those we serve to feel physically and emotionally safe.Ability to support individuals on their paths to recovery and healing and resist re-traumatization of staff and patients.Demonstrate exemplary problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to work effectively as a team member Exemplary organizational skills and ability to prioritizeQualificationsBachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred: From an accredited college with a major in psychology, social work, counseling, chemical dependency or similarAt least 1+ years' experience in the drug and alcohol field requiredCurrent PA State certification or license strongly preferred. If not current, candidate must be willing to obtain certification or licensure following hireCompletion of 8hrs of Buprenorphine training program (can be completed post-hire)Ability to demonstrate strong written and verbal communicationScheduled to work weekly Monday through Friday based on program and patient needsProgram Summery Montgomery County Recover Center (MCRC) is a licensed methadone treatment program. Medication Assisted Treatment in conjunction with counseling and supportive services are provided to support those struggling with addiction to recover. Drug therapy and counseling program for recovering narcotic addicts from all socio-economic levels. All are medically and psychologically approved for methadone treatment. HIV/AIDS testing and counseling and TB testing for all clinic clients.
