Description:

The Linux Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading Linux operating systems. Configuring Linux, evaluating hardware and software products and establishing standards for both Contour Data Solutions and clients of Contour Data Solutions. In this role, you will also perform system and network programming and software maintenance including backup/recovery and security administration, troubleshooting networking and operating system problems, training and supporting end users.

Responsibilities
  • Design, install and maintain Linux systems equipment.
  • Hands-on administration and operation of scalable IT infrastructures on both VMware and physical environments.
  • Install and set up Linux systems and servers, often for organization-wide deployment.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and resolve server-side issues as they arise.
  • Perform OS and application upgrades and server migrations to new environment.
  • Maintain security and OS patch management for Linux based systems
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post restoration of service.
  • Perform complex network support tasks with minimum guidance.
  • Maintain and provide software and hardware support for Contour and its Clients
  • Maintain and provide support for network file servers.
  • Maintain and provide support for Linux operating systems.
  • Maintain and provide backup for all servers and applications.
  • Comply with all IT and Information Security policies and procedures; respond to audit requests.
  • Provide 24x7 support for production, customer-facing systems
  • Evaluate hardware and software for a large complex network.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting information to management recommending purchase of hardware, software and telecommunication equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent.
  • 6+ years' experience managing Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience Active Directory Integration for Linux and Unix (LDAP, IPA)
  • Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (e.g. Perl, Shell, SALT).
  • Linux/Unix installation ,Administration and Troubleshooting.
  • Web servers (nginx, apache, httpd, tomcat)
  • Mail Transfer Agents & Mail Delivery Agents (postfix, sendmail, smtp)
  • File Servers (NFS, samba)
  • Database Servers (Oracle DB) - Basics
  • Should have worked on Redhat, CentOS and Ubuntu.
  • Strong Experience on DNS (Bind DNS - forward/Reverse Zone configuration, A , TXT , CNAME , DKIM records .
  • Strong Experience on LDAP,LVM , SSSD based AD integration
  • Administration and maintenance support for NFS, SAMBA, FTP,SFTP, SSH, REDHAT clustering, multipath, powerpath, SUDO and Squid Proxy
  • Linux KVM and any other virtualization technology
  • Netbackup/Veem backup - backup restoration, backup initiation, configuration file updates, trouble shooting on backup failures.
VMware - Administration
  • Basics on VMware which includes
  • Deploy VM's on ESXi Host, System admin on Linux & Windows
  • Fundamentals on Datacenter Virtualization, administration experience with VMware ESXi and VMware vCenter Server
