Assistant Buyer

This position coordinates activities involved with pricing updates, directing inbound inquires and reporting buyer information. The Buyer assistant collaborates with all component suppliers as it relates to our transactional relationship, and to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, product technical information, and new product meetings.

**Responsibilities:**

* Processing new codes for inventory and inventory system

* Updating pricing from various suppliers

* Keep accurate records of product descriptions in ERP system

* Continuously updating Hazmat information for shipping lists

* Ordering samples when needed for sales employees

* Send out sales inquires to manufacturers for quotes

* Checking on regular basis mill portals for updated shipping status

* Track and record mill shipments both rail and truck

* Actively relay mill information to our sales force

* Maintain existing SKUs for manufacturer changes

* Coordinate loss and damaged claims with warehouse personnel

**Experience:**

* 1-3 years of data entry experience

* Understanding of building materials (preferred)

* Customer interaction via email, phone or in person

* Comprehension of ERP system and inventory

**Skills & Competencies:**

* Computer skills including Microsoft Office

* Excellent organization and time management skills

* Possess excellent written and verbal communication

* Simple math comprehension

**Physical Requirements/environment:**

* Office environment, business casual dress
