Founded in 2017, we’ve compiled the largest independent library of aged Kentucky bourbon and rye and established a global presence including offices in Beverly Hills, Louisville and Tokyo, Japan, a 40-acre campus in Danville and a bottling facility in Harrodsburg. Our ambitious growth trajectory includes the recent groundbreaking of a new whiskey distillery in Shelbyville, KY, slated for completion in early 2025, and plans for a Japanese distillery in Chitose set to commence in 2024. With over 100 years of combined industry expertise, our diverse team of seasoned professionals and dynamic newcomers has propelled IJW to the forefront of the spirits industry. Our strategic partnership with one of the nation's largest independent Wine & Spirits distributors has enabled us to offer 22 products across four unique private label bourbon brands in 28 states. We have also expanded outside of Whiskey with our first Tequila brand arriving in Q3 of 2024. As we prepare to launch our inaugural global brand, we are seeking an innovative Head of Sales to spearhead this exciting new chapter. Position Overview: As the Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of IJW. Your leadership will be crucial in crafting and implementing effective route-to-market strategies, driving product commercialization, and fostering market disruption. This role demands a data-driven approach, focusing on the successful launch and expansion of our global brand, both on and off-premises. Your player-coach mentality and profound dedication to brand-building and cultivating strategic partnerships will be essential in scaling our business to new heights. This is an on-site role located in Louisville, KY. Key Responsibilities: Route-to-Market Leadership: Devise and execute a comprehensive national Route-to-Market strategy for IJW’s flagship products. Establish and enhance retail distribution channels, including off-premises Chains, mass merchandisers, and e-commerce platforms. Negotiate and manage terms with distribution partners in collaboration with the executive team to optimize distribution strategies and brand recognition. Work closely with the operations team to streamline logistics and ensure efficient distribution. Align strategies across on-premises and off-premises venues with activities at our distilleries to maintain brand consistency. Brand Innovation and Launch: Utilize your experience in launching brands within the super-premium spirits sector to lead our market introductions. Collaborate with internal leaders and external vendors to develop and execute a robust commercial strategy for our new products. Drive the initial presentation and sustained engagement of our products with distributors and retailers, ensuring successful market penetration. Craft and implement detailed launch plans to maximize brand exposure and consumer engagement. Strategic Leadership: Work with internal teams to leverage our already growing Private label business to seek revenue opportunities with the global brand. Build and lead a streamlined sales team dedicated to achieving and surpassing IJW’s sales targets. Establish a performance-driven, growth-focused culture within the Sales team. Qualifications: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated success in the sales of super-premium, ultra-premium, or luxury wine and spirits. Deep-rooted passion for and experience in brand development. Proven track record of establishing and nurturing successful distributor and retailer networks. Experience managing multi-state sales operations. Capability to lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Prior experience in a startup environment is highly beneficial.
