NATURE OF POSITION : The Phlebotomist/Radiographer performs X-rays, phlebotomy, and assists in other laboratory duties.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Laboratory Services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ High school graduate or equivalent

+ Training appropriate for the tests being administered

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Performs venipuncture on adults and pediatrics

+ Performs capillary (finger, toe, heal) blood collection on adults and pediatrics

+ Processes specimens according to test specifications

+ Records workload and test results according to established lab protocols

+ Processes pap smear results and keeps the tickler file for follow-up

+ Performs waived and approved testing using appropriate equipment and materials

+ Performs and appropriately documents quality control procedures, instrument checks and maintenance reports

+ Consults with supervisor when controls are out of range, test results are abnormal, or when difficulties are encountered in testing procedure

+ Maintains good working relationships with other employees and observes patient confidentiality

+ Protects the confidentiality of patients and their records at all times by complying with the COFMC policies regarding patient confidentiality

+ Performs all other duties as assigned
