Villa Caritas is a 150 bed acute secure geriatric psychiatry hospital. The hospital has 5 units each composed of 30 beds. Our facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment, individualized care and treatment with the goal of achieving maximum rehabilitation, optimal function and overall wellness to older adults with complex cognitive and psychiatric challenges. Patients admitted to our facility have been identified as having acute psychiatric symptoms and/or behavioral difficulties which significantly compromise their safety, physical and/or mental well-being. Our team delivers services through an interdisciplinary model in collaboration with medical personnel, community resources and family members in an effort to achieve the stabilization and successful discharge of our patients to an appropriate care setting. Unit 2B is one of two secure (locked) units for older adults who suffer from acute behavioral and/or psychological symptoms of a major neurocognitive disorder, also known as dementia. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement. Union: COV CUPE 2111 Unit and Program: Unit 2B Casual Pool Primary Location: Villa Caritas Employee Class: Casual/Relief Date Available: 01-OCT-2024 Length of Shift in weeks: Varied Shift Pattern: Days Minimum Salary: $26.07 Maximum Salary: $31.68 Required Qualifications: One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional Required Qualifications: Grade 12 required with knowledge of medical terminology. Unit Clerk certificate from a recognized program. Knowledge of computers. Proven communication/organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure with little supervision. Ability to recognize/maintain confidential information. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office computer software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point). Database creation and management required. Must be flexible, adaptable and great team player. Able to multi-task, prioritize and excellent time management skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Geriatric Mental Health setting. Experience with Connect Care.     The Unit Clerk is responsible for assembling patient charts and transcribing Physician orders to appropriate sources. This position is also responsible for performing reception duties, such as word processing, typing, scheduling patient tests/treatments, arranging necessary transportation, maintaining departmental and other files, ordering office supplies...
