If you're ready for the challenge of providing life-saving care or supporting those who do, read on to find your fit in the Phelps Health family.General SummaryThe Registered Dietitian is responsible for nutritional care and education of hospital patients, including: evaluation, development, and implementation of patients plan of care, order writing, parenteral/enteral nutrition support; inpatient nutrition counseling, staff education and training, and intern precepting. The Registered Dietitian will assist with policies and procedures related to nutritional care and the compliance to regulatory agencies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, develop, and implement patients nutrition plan of care.Communicate assessment, intervention, and plan of care with physicians and multidisciplinary care team.Provides nutritional education to inpatients.Identify and communicate with the Director of Food Services any problems related to patient feeding, supplements, snacks, and tube feeds; cooperation with nursing staff and physicians; compliance issues and changes to regulatory codes; policies and procedures; and areas of concern regarding the well-being and care of a patient.Participates in performance improvement measures of the department.Assists with the administration associated with nutritional care including maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies, development of clinical nutrition policies, and validation of competencies.EducationBachelor's degree in Nutrition required. Work ExperienceOne year of clinical dietetics experience preferred. Certification/LicenseRegistered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Licensed RD for the State of Missouri.-or-Registration eligible. Must pass registration exam within three (3) months of hire date.Mental/Physical RequirementsMental ability required to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to use computer. Long periods of standing and walking. Ability to teach and communicate nutrition to customers. Ability to measure and calculate. Working ConditionsMay encounter unpleasant conditions at times in patient care areas. Potential exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids. Heat and noise from the kitchen, and ware washing areas. Will experience wet floors and exposure to hot steam, water, chemicals, glass breakage and sharp knives when in food production areas.
