Intermediate Civil Engineer | Construction Inspection – airport buildings

Client:
The Civil Engineer will work for our client, a leading civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recently voted as one of the Top 25 Engineering firms by NJ Biz. This firm has steadily grown based on a solid reputation for providing quality service. The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers and inspectors throughout NY and NJ. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Description:
Reporting to the Resident Engineer at LaGuardia Airport's field office, Hangar 5A. The scope of the work will be primarily airport and building concrete work, civil site work, paving, drainage systems, structural, maintenance of traffic. THIS IS A TUESDAY TO SATURDAY SCHEDULE (to align with the contractor’s schedule) with overtime on weeknights and weekends. The schedule could also move around; the candidate may work on Sundays and Monday, for example. Needless to say, this is a job for someone who likes doing Overtime.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience or more inspecting civil/structural construction work, varied in size and complexity, particularly at airports.
  • Trained in OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety.
  • Ability to pass a SWAC background check.
  • Night and weekend shifts may be offered as well as a flexible schedule.
  • Prior airport construction work is desirable.
  • NICET Level 3 Asphalt; ACI Concrete Special Inspector; and Work Zone Safety certifications desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly for writing daily narratives and reports.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Education:
BSCE – Civil or Structural Engineering
