Kitchen Assistant Responsible for assisting in preparing and cooking food items in specific sections or stations within the kitchen. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. Assist at a specific station or section within the kitchen, such as grill, saut, pantry, or pastry. Utilize a variety of cooking techniques, such as grilling, frying, baking, roasting, and sauting, to prepare dishes. Assist in the execution of menu items, ensuring that dishes are prepared accurately, consistently, and with attention to detail. Follow proper food safety and sanitation practices to ensure a clean and hygienic working environment. Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean, organized, and sanitized. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Culinary Arts preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes. Licenses and Credentials: Experience Line Cook or Related Experience 1-2 years preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of various cooking methods, knife skills, seasoning, and flavor profiles. Understanding of food safety principles, including proper food handling, storage, temperature control, and hygiene practices. Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively. Good communication skills for working in a team-oriented kitchen environment. Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and working with kitchen equipment. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, handle high-pressure situations, and solve problems on the spot.
