JOB SUMMARY

The Area Manager is responsible for meeting revenue performance goals by planning, directing and monitoring marketing efforts within a sales region.

This responsibility includes sales forecasting, human resource planning, and revenue analysis.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Assist in and coordinate the development of annual marketing plans and goals for each

district and compile district plans to develop region goals.

2.

Monitor district performance and provide assistance to district managers and sales

representatives as necessary.

3.

Report district/region performance to the Operations Manager and insure the

implementation of department policies and procedures within the region.

4.

Monitor and control expenses for each district and investigate methods of reducing

expenses and increasing revenues.

5.

Monitor inventories within each district and recommend methods of better utilization

of inventory.

6.

Visit field stores on periodic basis and participate in region planning meetings.

7.

Evaluate performance of district personnel and monitor performance reviews of store and

field personnel.

8.

Assume other responsibilities as necessary.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Area Manager is responsible for meeting a specific revenue goal.

This requires the incumbent to analyze market conditions, forecast sales, and coordinate efforts to meet objectives.

While the Operations Director provides direction and advice to the Region Manager, the incumbent exercises a great deal of independent judgment and initiative in meeting directives.

The Region Manager directly supervises district personnel and monitors the supervision of store and field employees.

RELATIONSHIPS

The Area Manager interfaces with representatives of all departments in performing financial, personnel, and product sales and service responsibilities.

The incumbent frequently communicates results to the Operations Director, and regularly participates in marketing planning sessions.

External contacts include oil field technical information resources and TDI customers.

KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Knowledge of the oil field drilling industry.

Knowledge of NOV policies and procedures.

Extensive knowledge of NOV products.

Knowledge of revenue and expense planning processes.

Knowledge of inventory control.

Ability to analyze revenue data.

Skill in verbal and written communications.

Skill in human relations.

Skill in organizing and planning.

REQUIREMENTS

The Area Manager position requires a minimum of five years successful experience in field store and district management OR an equivalent background.

The level of a Area Manager is dependent upon performance level of the incumbent and the ability to meet the revenue levels established by NOV

executive management.
