The Opportunity: Our client, a US based mining company, is looking for a Process Engineering associate to join their team in Wisconsin, USA. The Process Engineering Associate is responsible for supporting the production plants using engineering skills to assess, manage, improve, or revise processes, with the goal of improving the efficiency of the plant operations including safety and environmental impacts, while never sacrificing product quality. This position is also responsible for managing projects identified by various teams within the company. They will manage vendor relationships and contracts related to the projects they manage throughout and ultimately ensure the projects are closed on time and in scope.

What You'll Be Doing: Identify opportunities to improve production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers while maintaining company values. Develop and implement innovative solutions and systems that optimize all phases of the production process. Create detailed work instructions for new processes and equipment as well as train production associates on new manufacturing processes and equipment. Research and evaluate new equipment and processes as needs arise related to customer requests or new products/specs, including feasibility, cost, maintenance requirements, etc. Complete root cause problem solving using proven tools and methods to solve daily production problems. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to maintenance crew. Manage small projects or sub-projects within larger projects when necessary. Work with Plant/Team Leaders and Coaches in identifying potential capital improvements assisting with analysis and justification for these projects. Ensure financial budgets are properly established and followed. Practice change management techniques to ensure good team collaboration to foster a culture of effective continuous improvement.

What you'll need to be successful; Bachelor’s degree in process or mechanical, minerals processing, or chemical engineering. 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing or mineral processing environment Demonstrated experience in managing projects from conception thru startup including budgeting. Strong vendor management skills including skills in contract review. High attention to detail and strong sense of urgency while working on simultaneous projects. Knowledge of mining and industrial minerals processing an asset. Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent math, computer, and troubleshooting skills. Experience in lean tools Experience in team facilitation, teaching, and presentation skills Experience with CAD and PLC (ability to read and understand logic) Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
