Our south Puget Sound manufacturing client is looking for a Controller on the fast track to a VP level This is the highest level finance position at the company and reports directly to the President. Would you like to be a big fish in a small pond?

Controller Job Description

The Controller position is a part of Senior Management and manages a team of five employees that includes customer service, order processing, accounting and payroll.

The position is also responsible for administration of Human Resources and IT (outsourced).

In addition to day to day responsibility for management of the accounting and finance function, the Controller is responsible for:

Month end and year end closing, supporting outside CPA’s

All financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other analysis

Cost accounting, including administration of standard labor and overhead rates, materials costs, and manufacturing variance analysis

Primary support for the Company’s ERP system

Management of all treasury functions, including bank relationships cash forecasting and investments

Assuming a lead role in long term (growth/strategic) planning

Interfacing with customers and suppliers with respect to calculation of commissions, rebates, collections, discounts, disputes

Administration of outside resources including CPA’s, legal, employee benefits, and other professional services

The successful candidate will have the ability to wear many hats in a small manufacturing company.

Specific qualifications include:

Accounting degree, CPA and/or MBA a plus, but not required

Minimum of ten years of experience, with at least five years as a Manager

Must have previous Controller experience

Comprehensive knowledge and experience of business operations in a manufacturing environment, cost accounting, standard costing

Demonstrated experience with the development of operational performance metrics, cost improvement measures, and maximizing profitability

Demonstrated experience with information systems specific to utilizing tools to access database information, business intelligence, advanced MS Excel capability

Familiarity with roles and responsibilities related to the HR function, employment regulations

Experience with budgeting, planning, forecasting

Solid knowledge of internal controls, especially in a small company environment

Capacity to ensure Company is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations

Demonstrated ability to lead, organize and build skills of your team, retain top performers

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, ability to be a valued contributor to the senior leadership team and help guide the future of the Company

Our Controller will be an enthusiastic leader, a self-starter, organized, with an action-orientated motivation to improve processes and quality throughout the Company
