Patient Care Technician The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Patient Care Technician to, under direct supervision, assists the members of the Diagnostic Radiology Department in provision of efficient and safe patient care. Assists imaging technologists with diagnostic imaging studies in Radiology, the OR and ASC. Assists with the performance of a wide variety imaging procedures by participating in patient prep, patient transport and room turnover. Assists with moving imaging equipment throughout the hospital. Position Responsibilities: Responsible for facilitating smooth flow of patients through imaging areas by assisting imaging technologists in the performance of radiology procedures. Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions. Transports patients, equipment (including Radiology imaging equipment), specimens and supplies. Assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, including sterile tray set up. Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of assigned area. Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as preprocedural preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, etc. Reports pertinent patient information and incidents to imaging technologist and care team, including obtaining medical assistance for changes in the patient condition. Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, oxygen level, and other various assessments as instructed. Demonstrates accountability for patient satisfaction. Cleans clinical areas and exam rooms dependent on the area of assignment. Stock and supply assigned areas. Maintain patient confidentiality. Adheres to departmental established policies and procedures including but not limiting to double identification and hand hygiene. Collaborates with imaging technologists and other staff across Radiology to ensure optimal patient experience and efficient workflow. Performs special duties as assigned. Percent of Time: 100% Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600. Location: Radiology Rotations: No holiday rotation or weekends, no "on-call" duties.
