Reports To: Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant assists in preparing monthly financial statements and related reports, provide information for sales/use and property tax return filings, and performs analysis regarding the company's accounting records.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Understand and comply with Star's Core Values and company policies in everything you do at Star
- Communicate, model, and monitor compliance with Star's Core Values and policies and incorporate them into performance plans, coaching and corrective action
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts and credit card statements
- Assist with reconciliation of inventory and fixed assets
- Assist with preparation and reconciliation of multi-state sales, fuel, and excise tax returns
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for multiple branch locations
- Reviewing the preliminary financial statements with managers and identifying any required adjustments
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Preparation and posting journal entries to the General Ledger
- Supporting company personnel in obtaining and interpreting information from our ERP system
- Provide support to corporate officers, administrative managers, and operations managers as needed
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is desirable but not required
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in using financial software systems and/or ERP and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, time management, organization and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team, comfortable in a dynamic and fast paced environment with ability to meet deadlines
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze, read, and interpret common business and legal documents
- Experience with Avalara, Sale/Use Tax and fixed asset management desirable but not required
