Job Title: Phlebotomist (Part-Time) Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist with experience performing blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent technique using both straight needles and butterfly needles, have a clear understanding of physicians' orders, and ensure accurate specimen collection and handling.
Responsibilities
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand all physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
- Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
- Proficiency in blood draws and phlebotomy techniques.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with teen and adult venipuncture.
- Ability to handle blood pressure measurements.
- GED or High School Diploma.
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.00
